An old post from a previous blog; recognize that it's old. :)
Well, first post in the new riceboyler blog.
You know, the funny thing is that I generally genuinely hate blogs. They tend to encourage the use of both apalling spelling and grammar, tend to encourage ridiculous opinion and theory to be turned into fact, etc.
But I want a place to not only express my thoughts, but share my life with my progeny in the future. So I welcome you to my blog. I start this blog at my job (the big D) at 3:16 AM. That's a notable time, as I would normally never be caught awake at work at this time in the morning, but thanks to Globalization efforts, I'm here.
The Globalization "thing" has garnered more than it's fair share of the spotlight, with good reason. I, personally, am so sick and tired of seeing article after article of relatively total BS written about how sending American jobs in the tech sector to places like India create new jobs in America. If you believe the articles like those in PC Magazine by Michael Miller, you'd think that we could all just sit back in America and get rich by shipping all of the high-tech jobs overseas. Huh? How does that make any sense.
It seems especially odd to me that this kind of blatant a-patriotism is getting more and more rampant, considering the overpowering ethnocentrism we were in the middle of only 3 years ago following 9/11. Have we forgotten about that? I understand saving a buck (or 10 an hour), but at the same time, what about those Americans jobs that are displaced? How does THAT help the economy? Sure, there may be new jobs created in America, but are they jobs that ANY Americans want? Probably not.
Anyway, one other thing. This company (especially this site in Nashville) is so seemingly worried about our "Work/Life Effectiveness" (which is a PC way of saying "How can we screw you out of your life, without you realizing it?"), but then they pull things like this. Sure the overtime pay will help fix some financial issues, but geez, bye bye WLE...
So, to sum up: First post in the blog, Globalization sucketh royally, as does my weekend.
