A little history (riceboyler v2 starts)

This is from a previous iteration of riceboyler.com.

Well, new software, new blog. It's time to join the blogging revolution for the riceboyler. So, if you found me, it's probably because you know me, but just in case, here's a little about me:

My name is Jason. I'm a native of Virginia, by way of New York and adoption proceedings. I was born in Rochester, New York on March 17, 1975 (Yeah, St. Patty's Day) to two graduate students that were unwed. (As an interesting side note, thanks to my adoptive father being an attorney, I found out my birth surname was Cousey. Wonder if I'm related to Bob...) I was placed for adoption through LDS (Latter-Day Saint, as in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church of which I'm a member) Social Services, and after passing through various foster homes, I was adopted by C. Edward and Connie Clark of Waynesboro, VA.

They had already adopted a girl named Tammy from Salt Lake City, UT (yeah, Mormons) and she was now 7 years old. Anyway, I grew up in Waynesboro, Virginia, a quaint little town of approximately 20,000 people nestled right in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley, and actually the crossroads of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. As my father was an attorney and my mother was his secretary, I was raised for the first 5 years of my life by my paternal grandparents, who I remained close to until their deaths. The first really traumatic experience of my life was the death of my grandfather, James William, when I was 5. My granddad taught me to read by having me read the sports pages (specifically Yankees stories) to him because "he couldn't read." I didn't learn until much later in life he was fibbing so I could learn how to read. It worked.

OK, skip forward a bunch of years, and I went on a mission for my church to Boston where I served for two years, with my last mission president being former Atlanta Brave and 2-time NL All-Star Dale Murphy. It was honestly 2 of the best years of my entire life, and I have so many fond memories of Boston, and love that area SO much, and love the people of Mass SO much. While I was in Peterborough, NH, I met a member of the church who was home for spring break named Sean Mayo, who was attending Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He was a student in recording engineering which was a field I had wanted to go into. After discussing it (and being in that area for a week and a half before getting transferred), I applied and was accepted to MTSU (I had previously attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT for a year and a half) and moved to Murfreesboro in January of 1998.

While at MTSU, I met the love of my life, Zoni at a church Institute activity. She thought I was a dork, and I thought she was a snob. We went out the night after we met (I know, go figure), and it was the BEST date either of us had ever been on. We were married January 16, 1999 in Smyrna, TN. We moved into the "MTSU Projects" (aka Married Housing), and after a miscarriage, we got pregnant with our first child in October of 1999. (Regardless of what my sister claims, the conception was NOT while we were in San Jose, CA for her wedding on October 16, unless it was an immaculate conception... :D)

Owen McKay Clark was born on July 15, 2000 at about 12:38am. We had hoped he would be born an hour earlier so that he wouldn't share a birthday with his paternal grandfather, but our hopes were not fulfilled. He always has been "the good child", and is so well behaved still. We've decided he will be our student, and our computer geek.

Zander Field Clark was then born June 7, 2002 by emergency C-Section. Zander has been challenging, but he's always fun. He's so full of life and personality, and I can ALWAYS laugh when he's around.

Lauralynn Rose Clark was born January 5, 2005, and is the final episode! She'll always be our special little baby girl. She's a very happy baby generally, but got some of her mommy's moodiness.

I'm currently a developer for a small firm in Nashville called cj Advertising that is responsible for advertising for public relations lawfirms. I'm developing apps in PHP, C#, MS SQL and converting an Windows Forms App to Web Forms in ASP.NET. It was a such a great move to there from Dell, and a perfect opportunity. We live in Smyrna, TN which is about 25 miles south of Tennessee. I'm also a webmaster for MECA (Mobile Electronics Competition Association) and a huge fan of Turbo Dodge vehicles. I currently own Shelby CSX #76 and an '85 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo. I'm kind of own #657 as well, but I'm selling it to my brother-in-law.

That's me in a small nutshell. On to the real blogging.
